Serb & e rhizomate horizontal! erecta, glaberriuia, ^-1-pcdalis, subsimplex, foliis
radicalibus longe petiolutis. Stipula iiicouspicuie; slipellte nnlkc. Foliola pro-
fiinde 3-5-partita, scgmoiitis 1-3 liueas loiigis auguste oblongis vel linearibus. Pa-
nicztte rami eloiigati, patentes, fractiferi rigidi. f lores parvi. Sepala ovalia, raul-
tiuervia, ex sicco alba. Aiit/iera inucronatse. Achema stigmate persistente mucro-
nata, linean-obloiiga.

Herba pusilla, caespitosa. J?oUola rotundata, triloba vel fere tripartita, glabra,
•subtus glauca. Sc&pi 3~0-uncialcs, erccti, simpliciter racemosi. Bracteas oblougee,
obtusaj, membranacezie, iuifima interdmn. subfoliacea triloba. Scpala ovata, mem-
iranacea, pallide vii-idia, acutiuscula. Antherte mucronatic. Achenia striata, dcmum
sablsevia, pedicellis longitudine valde vaiiis, achenio aequalibus- vel paullo breviofibus,
interdum vbr idlis.
Identical with the European plant. • In luxuriant specimens from Sikkim the
scape is occasionally branched,.and bears a small leaf at the point of ramification.

Herba erecta, bipedalis.. fbfia inferiora longe petiolata, biternata; media srepeir-
regnlariter divisa, nempe ternata, scgmeuto terminali simplici, lat'eralibiis tcrnatis vel
bifoliatis. JPetiofi basi auriculati. Stipelles iiuUce. Foliola diamclro 1—2-uucialia,
coriacea, rigi^a, nervosa, supra uitida, subtus glanca, glaberrima vel tomentosn. Se~
path 4, clliptico-oblouga, nervosa. Klamenta filiformia. Anthera vix apicukt«o.
Achenia gkuduloso-pilosa vel glabemma, stylo aeipilongo rostrata.
It is'singular that this species,-which occurs iu Kumaon and KUasia, should not
have been met with in Nipal or Sikkim. The Kumaon specimens, which we Kr.- .
seen, are all glabrous; but in the Khasia mountains both states pccur, that with to-
mentose leaves being, however, more common.
